What happens if I drop my vape in water? (Solution attached)

You may have heard that rice can work if you drop your smartphone in water. (Professional reminder: rice doesn’t work!) But what happens if I drop my vape in water? Well, it depends on the type of vape and how long it’s been submerged in water. Let’s exclude some useful tips and effective solutions.

Depending on the type of vape you damaged, you may need to find a replacement part to mix the combination. Or you may have to throw away the entire item and start over. Let’s discuss in depth some of the ways to restore your damaged vape. Rescue missions may be possible!

Why is water bad for vapes?

When we discuss vapes, we describe cigarettes as smoke or vapor. They are aerosols because their particles are larger than vapor atoms. Additionally, most vapes contain oil-based vape oils that evaporate differently than water vapor (also known as steam). However, it is important to note that some newer vape oils contain water, such as Aquios Labs’ AQ30.

If a vape is dropped in water, the part that is most likely to be damaged is the battery. Batteries are lithium batteries, so when they come into contact with water, they can short out, catch fire, corrode, or even explode. The role of the battery in a vape is to heat the coil while turning the vape into an aerosol. In other words, rusty coils, infected wicks, and contaminated vapes can be a problem.

Vapes can be categorized into disposable vapes, rechargeable vapes, and reassembled vapes. When they fall into the water, they react differently. But in all three cases, if the vape only stays in the water for a while, the damage may not be too severe. However, this is unlikely to happen. Because vapes have many openings through which water may seep. And don’t charge your vape when it’s wet!

How Style Affects Function

Disposable vapes usually consist of a plastic casing. The casing has a mouthpiece at the top and air holes at the bottom. Inside the casing is a lithium battery, a fabric core, and a helical coil. The wick fills the vape. When the wick dries out or the battery capacity is depleted, the vape will stop working. Some disposable vapes are rechargeable for more power and longer life.

Disposable vape cases are thin, lightweight and rarely waterproof. But other types of vapes can better resist water penetration. vape pens have a slim profile, similar to a pen. They are usually metal, so the battery is better protected. For refillable vapes, they can be pen-based or disposable. Most cartridges can be replaced at will.

Next is the vape module. It has several components, including a reservoir filled with vapes, a coil that can be assembled or purchased on your own, and an atomizer, cartomizer, or smoke cartridge (depending on the brand). With these vape modules, you can mix and match the various parts, assemble your coils, or just drop the vape into the cartridge. The battery is installed in a metal, glass, or ceramic housing.

If you’re confused, the atomizer is the most basic part of the vape module. It usually comes with a coil and wick in a closed metal housing. Clear atomizers are transparent and consist of a tubular reservoir, replaceable coils, and wicks. Finally, a smoke bomb atomizer is a closed, cylindrical cartridge with no replaceable parts. When it runs out, you simply throw it away and get a new one.

What if I drop my vape in the water?

Pedal vapes are sometimes referred to as pedal vapes RTA or RDA. can rebuild oil atomizers (abbreviated as RTA). It’s a vape with a removable oil reservoir, and you can use the vape to refill the reservoir. However, the Rebuildable Drip Atomizer (RDA) contains a wick that you can manually dip into with your vape. In both types of vapes, the atomizer and the oil reservoir are separated from the battery by a sturdy housing.

These types of vapes are better suited for dipping, as the water may not pass through the casing. So, if your RTA, RDA, or RDTA (both) is dropped in water or wet by rain, dry it off as soon as possible. Separate the parts of your vape and place them in a warm place, preferably an area in direct sunlight. Scrub the parts with a lint-free cloth or paper towel.

Reminder: Some people recommend using a hair dryer or fan, but this can overheat the battery. Air drying is the safest option. But this only works if the battery is removable. That way, you can take it out of the box and manually look for signs of water and wipe off any moisture. But if your vape has a closed battery box, take it to a vape store. They have the tools to open it.

Drain water from vape reservoirs and coils

While the biggest danger to your battery is water, wet coils and reservoirs can also damage your vape. When water mixes with vape oil, the vape oil is diluted, causing a drop in flavor when inhaled. It can also cause clogging or react with the oil to form harmful byproducts. Additionally, water inside the coil reduces saturation, leading to an empty burn.

The wick heats up unevenly, and because water evaporates faster than oil, the vapor (ironically, a real vapor) can burn you when you inhale! So if you drop your vape in water, get it out as soon as possible. Open it up, replace the wick, and then pour the damaged vape oil into the tank. Since it may mix with water, you have to pour everything out.

Solution:

Scrub the tank with a dry cloth, then scrub it with a paper towel soaked in vodka or isopropyl alcohol. Wash the tank with warm water and dry it thoroughly to remove any watermarks. Inspect the coils and soak them in the same cleaning solution (vodka or topical ethanol). After an hour or two, clean the coils and wipe them dry. Wait 30 minutes before assembling.

What happens if I drop my vape in water?

A vape or imitation tobacco is a cylindrical electronic cigarette. It looks like a thin tube, and some even mimic the shape of a cigarette, with a colored filter at the bottom. Imitation tobacco usually consists of two tubes. The top is a smoke cartridge, complete with e-liquid, vaping material, and a coil. The bottom part comes with a lithium-ion vape battery.

In some brands, the “filter” is the e-liquid cartridge itself, attached to the top of the battery case. These battery cartridges are solid, so unless the vape is submerged in water for an extended period, the interior may be finished. But you should pull it out of the water as soon as possible. Separate the two cylinders and wipe them dry to remove any surface moisture.

Place the two parts in a well-ventilated area and use an absorbent cloth or paper towel pad underneath to absorb any remaining moisture. It takes at least an hour to assemble, charge, or absorb the vape. By the way, some disposable vapes have a device similar to a smoke bomb, called a smoke grenade, that clips onto a plastic case with batteries. They are not as waterproof as vapes.

But if you’re using a sturdier smoke bomb that refuses to light up when you inhale, then the battery may have gone bad. Some smoke bombs have a viewing glass that shows how much vape is left. If there’s a lot left, take your smoke bomb to a vape store for reference. The staff can recommend a vape bottom that will work for you.

What happens if my disposable vape gets wet?

With a vape retrofit, you can disassemble the vape, clean, and reassemble it. If the wick, coil, or battery is badly worn, it can be replaced. But what if I drop my disposable vape in water? If someone throws water on you or gets wet, the vape could get wet. Or it could fall into the toilet, bathtub, sink, or restroom.

Sometimes, if you forget to take your vape out of your clothes, it can fall into the washing machine. Or, while your vape is still in your pocket, someone could push you into a swimming pool or douse you with water. Under all of these premises, the vape will be wet and cold for a long time, so it’s unlikely to be salvageable. Drop it off for you as soon as possible.

This is because vapes can burn, explode, or catch fire, and you don’t want to get hurt in the process. Even if the battery stays dry, water could seep into the wick and contaminate the e-liquid. Or the coils could rust, burn inefficiently, and toxic fumes could get mixed into the aerosol. Corrosion can even clog the terminals between the battery and the coil.

This can prevent current from reaching the coil and heating the wick. If you do heat the wick, it may release vapor instead of aerosol and burn you! Putting the drip tip and end cap on a disposable product can prevent this. Most people throw them away when they open the box, but these simple sealants reduce the chance of water getting into your vape.

How to Survive a Flooded Vape

It can be very frustrating when your vape falls into the water and you can’t recover. Especially if your vape is expensive or you have a love for it. Try to use a rechargeable one. Zumo DT20000 or Zumo BC20000 vapes can fill the bill. They have 18000 and 20000 puffs, respectively.

This gives you plenty of time to buy a new machine. Choose a flavor that is as comforting as grape ice. It’s like sucking a fresh glass of Relief into your lungs. And because they
