Vape Technology Association of America Spends Millions on Advertising
As reported by VTA on July 14, the Vapor Technology Association (VTA) has invested millions of dollars in launching a cable, broadcast and digital ad campaign urging President Donald Trump and his administration to make a clear distinction between illegal vape products targeting teens and the safe, adult-oriented alternative products.
VTA’s national ad placements will air on Fox News, Newsmax, Bloomberg, NBC, ESPN, and high-profile Sunday news programs on select broadcast networks to reach a broad and influential group of stakeholders. The ads were strategically designed to target key decision makers in Washington, D.C., as well as members of President Trump’s Bedminster Golf Club in New Jersey.
Through this ad campaign. VTA is clearly and directly communicating the message that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are acting against Trump’s will to save the flavored vape industry.
Accuses FDA and CBP of reneging on Trump’s promise to save industry
The campaign emphasizes the importance of cracking down on illegal Chinese vape products targeting youth, which are marketed through video games, apps, and cartoon imagery, while protectinghttps://zumovape.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/E-Cigarette-Technology-Association-of-America-Spends-Millions-on-Advertising.mov responsible, adult-oriented vape products marketed by small businesses in the U.S. – a policy position VTA has long advocated for.
- “VTA is calling on President Trump to take tough measures against those Chinese vape products and circumvent FDA safety inspections. But we are equally urging him to fulfill his promise to protect the multi-billion dollar independent U.S. vape industry, save tens of thousands of small businesses across the country that are struggling to survive under the FDA’s latest action, and ensure that adults can continue to use the vape products that have helped them quit smoking – all of which are currently under threat. Despite attempts by some members of the media, particularly advertising executives who have sought to scrutinize our policy statements and long-advocated positions, VTA and the member companies we represent will not yield to the opposition. We challenge them directly, and we are confident that our message and campaign will resonate with the Trump administration and the millions of vape voters who support him.”

Tony Abboud, executive director of the Electronic Cigarette Technology Association of America, said.
Currently, the VTA recognizes that unruly officials and an overly intrusive FDA are “authorizing” CBP to intercept virtually all vape products at the border, an action that undermines the entire independent U.S. vape product distribution chain and runs counter to President Trump’s promise to save the industry.
Instead of targeting vape products, these agencies are focused on shutting down legally operating, independent U.S. vape businesses that help adults quit smoking.VTA’s campaign reiterates calls for simplified regulation that will allow the tens of thousands of small businesses that make up the industry to thrive and encourage President Trump and his team to support consumer choice.
VTA’s work with the Trump Administration continues, and VTA is committed to the following policy priorities:
- Working with the FDA to end former President Biden’s regulation of illegal vape products and replace it with science-based, streamlined regulatory guidance that focuses on product safety;
- Supporting enforcement actions against illegal Chinese vape products and implementing sensible marketing restrictions;
- Developing a transparent set of guidelines to facilitate product entry into the U.S. and protect tens of thousands of American businesses.
VTA’s campaign is designed to reinforce the association’s longstanding commitment to reducing youth use of vape products while protecting access to safer vape alternatives for millions of American adults trying to quit – and defending the thousands of jobs supported by independent vape companies.
VTA said the event also sent a clear message that the FDA’s actions are not in line with President Trump’s stated priorities, and that it’s time for the agency to course-correct and follow President Trump’s agenda, not former President Biden’s agenda.
