The Michigan Tribal Council and the Truth Initiative have partnered to launch This is Quitting, the first anonymous text messaging service for young people, according to the report. Launched in January 2019, the program, which now has more than 750,000 participants, is designed specifically for young people looking to quit vaping.
Tailored to the participant’s age, date of enrollment or quit date (which can be set and reset via text message), and the brand of vapes they use, the program provides participants with customized advice, cognitive and behavioral responses, and social support to help them successfully quit smoking. This information includes information on nicotine replacement therapy, encouragement and support, skills training, and self-efficacy training.
According to Truth, Dr. Amanda Graham said that vape use among teens remains a serious public health issue. In the 2023 National Youth Cigarette Survey, more than 2 million teens reported tar use.
