Due to external pressure and accusations, the French vaping organization SOVAPE announced its dissolution and donated its remaining funds to research institutes and other vaping organizations.
French vape organization SOVAPE has announced its dissolution
According to Vaping 360 recently, the French vape organization SOVAPE announced that it will disband this week.
SOVAPE has reportedly been active in the vape space since 2016 and is known for the three French vape summits held between 2016 and 2019. The group also advocates for reducing tobacco harm in Europe—co-founder of the ETHRA Alliance.
Shut down due to stress and attack
Since 2019, SOVAPE has commissioned renowned market research firm BVA to survey the French public’s perception of vapes and cigarette tar. However, this year (2024), BVA informed SOVAPE that BVA would not participate because BVA’s contracts with health industry customers prohibit working with organizations related to smoke tar.
The abrupt withdrawal of the investigation, as well as recent news reports alleging that consumer organizations such as SOVAPE were linked to the tobacco industry, have also attacked scientists and health professionals who support SOVAPE. On October 6, SOVAPE announced on its website that it was disbanding “censorship, threats, lies, defamation, the spread of false news and the denial of scientific data, creating an atmosphere in which this mission cannot be sustained.”
SOVAPE decided to donate the balance of its funds to the Pasteur Institute. (Pasteur Institute) AIDUCE and La and other vape organizations Vape du C Schuur. Separately, SOVAPE has paid to make sure its website is available for the next 10 years and to keep vape Summit videos on its YouTube channel.
