Sales of single-use vapes have risen sharply in County Fermanagh, Ireland
According to Fermanaghg, Irish media outlet Herald recently reported that employees at a local shop said the sale of single-use vapes in Enniskillen was “horrendous.” A shop in the area has been exposed as the second-largest single-use vape outlet in Northern Ireland. In 2015, disposable vapes entered the UK market for the first time and have developed rapidly across different age groups. To cater to customers, suppliers have launched vape brands with various flavors and flavors.
Interview shop assistants
As news of Ireland’s ban on the sale of single-use vapes spread, a shop worker in Enniskillen welcomed the move, with similar action being considered in Northern Ireland. The employee said:
- “vapes are our best-selling product. We sell almost as many vapes as cigarettes. Our store (Enniskillen) has the second-highest sales of vapes in Northern Ireland. When you break down the sales volume, it’s a cautionary number.”
The price of disposable vapes varies locally. Starting at 6 yuan, some products cost as much as 13 yuan. Shop assistants in Enniskillen said it was worrying that more young people were buying vapes.
- “Many young people who have never smoked are now using vapes,”
The clerk said:
- “I think it’s because the trends and the variety of interesting fruit flavors appeal to them.” I don’t know what kind of health problems they will have in the future because their popularity is short-lived.”
Denise McCallion is the director of Health Improvement at the Public Health Agency. Recently, she said, smoking in general has increased. Ms McCallion said:
- “Cigarettes produce more than 7,000 toxic compounds when burned, many of which have been shown to cause cancer and other serious diseases. If you smoke, quitting is one of the best things you can do for yourself – it’s good for your health, appearance, and finances, but it can be a challenge.”
New measures are expected to come into effect next April
Stephen Donnelly, the Republic of Ireland’s Minister of Health, has responded to this growing problem by recently finalizing a Cabinet bill allowing him to inhale tobacco tar.
According to RTE, the bill proposes to ban the sale. Manufacture or import of single-use vapes in Ireland, and Prime Minister Simon Harris has expressed support for the proposal.
Recently, the UK government pledged to ban the sale of single-use vapes, and the new measures are expected to come into effect next April.
