Startup Svezez.se and Philip Morris ČR have partnered to launch an IQOS-friendly cab service in Prague, Prague Morning reported on June 24.
Prague Launches the First IQOS-Friendly Cab Service
Customers can download the Svez.se mobile app from the App Store or Google Play to book an IQOS-friendly cab. In addition to selecting a vehicle and payment method, users can request vehicles that permit the use of IQOS smoke-free products.
Passengers Can Request IQOS-Friendly Vehicles Through the App
These vehicles display a “You can enjoy smoke-free products here” label and a smoke-free icon. They are equipped with dedicated containers for used IQOS consumables, chargers for IQOS devices, and other supporting facilities for adult users.
Partnership Between Svezez and Philip Morris Czech Republic
Svez.se was co-founded by former Czech national rowing representative Jakub Paroulek and Kornel Altman. The startup focuses on providing fixed-price, 24-hour ride-hailing services supported by professional drivers.
Company Says the Service Was Developed in Response to Customer Demand
Paroulek explained:
- “With only professional drivers serving our customers, we stay closely connected to their needs. Many IQOS users have asked whether they could use smoke-free alternatives during their rides. Based on this feedback, we decided to become the first company in the Czech Republic to allow the use of smoke-free alternatives in our vehicles.”
This innovation is the result of a memorandum of understanding signed between Svez.se and Philip Morris ČR.
Philip Morris Czech Republic Supports Smoke-Free Innovation
Fabio Costa, CEO of Philip Morris ČR, said:
- “Our cooperation with Svez.se allows us to further expand services for adult users of smoke-free alternatives. We value the trust of more than 500,000 adult smokers in the Czech Republic who have switched to these alternatives and remain committed to serving them.”
Czech Smoking Laws and the IQOS-Friendly Cab Initiative
In the Czech Republic, smoking has been prohibited in enclosed public places—including restaurants, bars, cafés, and public transportation—since May 31, 2017. Traditional smoking is therefore also prohibited inside taxis.
IQOS Products Are Treated Differently From Traditional Cigarettes
The new cab service is designed specifically for smoke-free alternatives such as IQOS. Unlike conventional cigarettes, IQOS heats tobacco instead of burning it, reducing smoke and odor associated with combustion. The initiative offers adult users a designated environment for using these products while traveling.
Industry Significance
The launch of Prague’s IQOS-friendly cab service reflects the growing commercialization of smoke-free products beyond retail channels. By integrating dedicated charging facilities and disposal solutions into ride-hailing services, the partnership demonstrates how companies are developing new consumer experiences around heated tobacco products.
If successful, the initiative could encourage similar partnerships between mobility platforms and smoke-free product manufacturers in other markets where regulations permit the use of heated tobacco products.
