BLOOM Classic and BLOOM Live branded vape cartridges have been voluntarily recalled in Michigan after some versions containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were found to contain potentially harmful ingredients.
According to Foxbusiness reports on February 11, Michigan, USA, a variety of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) vapes were voluntarily recalled because they contained potentially harmful ingredients. The Cannabis Regulatory Authority (CRA) found that these vapes contain an oil-based ingredient that may damage the lungs.
BLOOM Classic and BLOOM Live vape cartridges are said to contain Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) oil. Affected vapes include: Alien Jack, Blue Dream, Cereal Milk, Champagne Kush, Durban Gelato, Face Off OG, Forbidden Fruit, Green Crack, Jack Herer, Maui Wowie, Pineapple Express, Pineapple Sherbert, Rainbow Runtz, Skywalker, White Widow.
Although MCT oil is a non-THC oil more commonly found in oral supplements and occurs naturally in foods such as cheese and yogurt, according to media reports, it may cause respiratory problems when inhaled.
The CRA began targeted testing of MCT oils in vapes last fall and is working with points of sale to recycle such products.
In January 2025, RWB Michigan LLC and the CRA voluntarily recalled Platinum Vape brand vape cartridges due to the same issue. Platinum Vape flavors include: Garlic Cookie, Blazing Blue Cheese, Banana Candy, and Grape Valley Kush.
Consumers should check BLOOM vapes purchased after September 1, 2024, and Platinum vapes purchased after March 4, 2024, to ensure they are not included in the recall. Affected products can be returned to the place of purchase or simply discarded.
