Man injured in vape explosion in Italy
According to a report by Secolo on August 3rd, a vape explosion occurred in Rimini, Italy. A 25-year-old plumber suffered a 50-stitch head wound and burns to his hands and legs when his vape accidentally exploded while he was using it.
The incident occurred early in the morning on July 31st. The young man was leaving work and had put his vape in his pocket when it exploded, catching fire on his left leg. In a panic, he attempted to remove the burning device, but the pain and panic caused him to fall to the ground, hitting a concrete flower box and sustaining severe head injuries.
The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment and was released after ten days of recovery. The vape involved in the incident was purchased in a store. Although it is a Chinese product, it bears the CE mark.
The injured person’s lawyer, Stefano Caroli, has filed a lawsuit on their behalf with the Rimini Public Prosecutor’s Office, accusing the Chinese manufacturer and its Italian distributor and demanding an investigation into the product certification. The lawyer is also asking the court to remove similar products from the market that may pose safety risks. Caroli stated that consumers must be warned of the potential dangers.
This incident has sparked widespread concern about the safety of vapes and prompted further scrutiny of products currently on the market.
