Imperial Tobacco Canada is calling on the government to step up enforcement - highlighting ZONNIC as the only legal nicotine bag

Imperial Tobacco Canada has urged the government to strengthen enforcement of laws and regulations to combat the proliferation of illegal nicotine goods and prevent youth from being exposed to tobacco tar goods. Noting that any tobacco tar pouches other than those sold by retailers are illegal.

Imperial Tobacco has called on the government to step up enforcement

According to Yahoo. on July 31. Finance reported that Imperial Tobacco Canada (ITCAN) urged Health Canada and the Quebec government to join other teams in fulfilling their responsibilities to prevent youth access to tobacco tar products.

Eric Gagnon, ITCAN’s Vice President of Corporate and Legal Affairs (Eric Gagnon) stated that

  • “This is a serious public health issue. The media reports validate what we have been reporting to the Quebec government for months: a serious lack of enforcement in the face of illicit nicotine products, leading to a thriving illicit market. The Quebec government and Health Canada must work to enforce existing laws.”

Since Quebec banned flavored vape brands last fall, many media outlets have noted that some retailers are circumventing the law. However, ITCAN says it has repeatedly provided evidence of such problems to the Quebec government. However, enforcement actions have not been stepped up and the illegal market continues.

  • “We wish to assure the public and health professionals that ITCAN strictly complies with all regulations governing the marketing and sale of tobacco tar products. However, this is not the case for all manufacturers and distributors. They all know they can be safe and no one will hold them accountable.”

ZONNIC is the only legal nicotine bag

The company’s nicotine pouch product. ZONNIC is the only natural health product and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) tobacco tar pouch in Canada that is permitted for use in adults 18 and older and has been approved for marketing by Health Canada.

  • “Except ZONNIC, it is illegal to sell tobacco tar pouches in any retail store, without exception. It has implemented mandatory age verification and insists that even if our license doesn’t require it. The merchandise can only be sold behind the counter.”

The company said it will fully support the laws and regulations that govern the sale of limited tobacco tar products to adults over 18 and advocate for an open dialog with all parties to strengthen enforcement and protect youth from tobacco tar.
