How long can the vape coil last?

How long can the vape coil last?

The lifespan of a vape coil depends on a variety of factors, including the type of coil used, personal smoking habits, the type of e-liquid used, the duration of the smoking session, the coil resistance, the power setting, and maintenance practices. Generally, vape coils last from a few days to four weeks, but it’s important to note that this is only a prediction, and individual experiences may vary.

Most vape coil manufacturers recommend replacing vape coils after a week of use. However, if you use your vape more frequently than the average vape user, your coil can last longer.

Most importantly, vape coils don’t stop working. The flavor of the vape will deteriorate, the taste will become burnt, and the feeling of the vape will become less pleasant. Theoretically, you can continue to use the vape so you decide when to replace the coil.

vape coils are a disposable commodity and need to be replaced regularly for optimal performance and flavor, but we’ll teach you some tips in this article to prevent atomizer vape coils from burning out prematurely.

If you’re reading this article, you’re most likely new to vapes and you’re interested in knowing how long vape coils last or knowing how to extend their life. We’re here to help guide you on your vape journey with some helpful information and practical tips along the way.

Top 10 Tips on How to Extend the Life of Your Vape Coils

Vaping Frequency

The more frequently you vape your vape, the faster the coil will be damaged. Continuous use puts more stress on the coil, causing it to break down faster.

If you are a serious vape user and use your vape regularly throughout the day, you may find that the vape coil will only last a few days. use vapes every day, but inhale less and less frequently, the coils may last nearly a couple of weeks. If you are a social or recreational vape user, your vape coil may only need to be replaced every four weeks.

Power and Power Settings

Higher power and wattage settings produce more heat, which can lead to coil damage faster. It is important to use a coil that is compatible with the recommended power range of your device and adjust the settings accordingly.

Lower power will lessen the burden on the coil. If you prefer high power, you usually use more coils than someone who uses low power. Most vape coils will offer a power range (on the actual coil) to set your device for optimal e-cig performance.

For example – Aspire AF mesh coils come in two resistances:

  • 0.6Ω mesh coil – optimal power 15W-18W
  • 1.0Ω mesh coil – optimal power 12W-15W

Startup

When installing a new vape coil for the first time, it is very important to “start the coil” (fully immerse the vape in the wicking material) before use. Starting a coil means placing a small amount of e-liquid on top of the bare cotton-wicking material inside the coil. This process allows the vape to soak the wicking material at a faster rate.

Alternatively, you can fill your vaping cartridge or reservoir and wait a few minutes for the vape to soak the wicking material.

If you press the power button without the coil being filled with e-liquid, the cotton material will burn, causing the coil to taste burnt.

Leave the new atomizer coil with the vape cartridge or vape oil. 10 for a few minutes, then adjust the device power to a lower power setting and start vaping your vape when you are ready to coil.

Burn it on empty

It’s important to keep the reservoir or smoke cartridges full of vapes and not let them run dry. Many devices come with a vape window so that you can always check the liquid level of your vape. If the fluid in the reservoir is about to dry out, add a small amount of vape.

If you notice an empty vape burn, stop smoking the vape for a few minutes and then fill the cartridge or tank with e-cigarettes to give the cartridge time to absorb more vapes.

Correct inhalation method

Traditional cigarettes inhale differently than vapes. Many newbies inhale vapes in the same way as tobacco, but instead of a short, tight inhalation, the inhalation is long, slow, and steady and lasts about. 3-5 seconds.

If you smoke harder, the tobacco will burn faster and there will be more smoke. If you want more vapor from your vape, you’ll need to press the ignition button longer and inhale longer. When using e-cigarette kits with inhalation activation technology or disposable vapes, a slow, steady inhalation will provide a more satisfying smoke. When converting to a vaper, it may take some time to adjust to the correct inhalation technique.

Inhaling too hard or not inhaling enough can cause problems with the vape coil.

Prevent sustained inhalation of vapes, which is the continuous inhalation of vapes for a short period (rapid sustained inhalation). When the coil heats up, the vape oil may not be able to soak the mandrel in the atomizer, causing the coil to burn, creating an unpleasant odor, and damaging the coil at a faster rate.

Waiting a long time between draws cools the coil and the e-liquid can soak the wicking material, resulting in a better vaping sensation and prolonging the life of the coil.

Sweetened Release E-liquid

Contains a lot of sweeteners and colors. The e-liquid will caramelize (making the e-liquid darker and thicker in color) and clog the coils faster. Sweeteners can leave a residue on the coils, causing the cotton wick material to not soak in properly, greatly shortening its lifespan and leaving a burnt flavor.

E-liquids that are clear or low in sugar may extend coil life. Choosing cigarette, menthol, or fruit-flavored e-liquids may be more cost-effective than choosing sugar or sweet-flavored e-liquids.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps to extend the life of the coil. Cleaning the oil reservoir and properly oiling the coil before use to maintain an adequate vape fluid level will help extend the life of the coil.

Keeping your coils in good operating condition will not only provide a more satisfying smoking sensation but will also save you money.

Lowering the power supply

If you are using a device that offers variable power, try lowering the power output. Lower power means less stress on the coil, which extends the life of the coil.

Many modern vape kits have a “smart mode”. At this point, your device will read the ohms or resistance of the installed vape coil and the device’s power output can be automatically set at the optimal performance point.

PG/VG e-liquid Oil

If you find that the coil burns faster than usual, it’s worth checking the type of liquid you’re using.VG (Vegetable Glycerin) e-liquids have a higher percentage. Liquids with a higher percentage of PG (Propylene Glycol) have a thicker consistency and may damage the coil more quickly.

High VG e-liquids are especially suited for sub-ohm and sub-ohm high-power systems. DTL (direct-to-lung) vapes, but if you’re using a low to mid-power device, 50/50, high PG, and nicotine salts may be a better choice. This type of tobacco oil is less concentrated, less likely to clog, and has a lower power. MTL (mouth-to-lung) devices (such as cartridges and pen kits) are suitable. You may need to increase the smoke tar concentration of the vape oil to get the same satisfaction, but you’ll consume less e-cigarette oil and the coils will last longer than they do now.

Coil Quality

Always buy your vape coils from a reputable manufacturer to ensure you choose the right coil for your device. Not all e-cigarette coils are created equal!

If you can buy a mesh coil for your device, it’s worth a try. Compared to regular coils (a wire coiled into a spiral), mesh coils heat up evenly because the current is distributed over a larger area. Even heat distribution and better wick contact with the wire will generally extend the life of the e-cigarette coil.

How do I know when I need to replace my vape coil?

  • Burnt/metallic taste in vapes
  • Decreased vapor production
