Philip Morris International Romania’s (PMI) ZYN tar bags have been added to its smoke-free product portfolio. The aim is to provide adult smokers with more diverse smoke-free alternatives and accelerate the arrival of a smoke-free future.
We are determined to accelerate progress towards a smoke-free future. Philip Morris International Romania (PMI) has recently added ZYN tar bags to its smoke-free product portfolio.
PMI’s position is to abandon tobacco tar and tobacco products to maintain health completely. However, figures show that fewer than one in 10 people successfully quit smoking each year. Therefore, PMI has developed a range of science-based smoke-free products for adults who may continue to smoke as a better alternative to tobacco.
According to Marek Gebski, Head of Smoke-free products at PMI Romania,
- “Oral smoke-free products are an important addition to our smoke-free portfolio. They will help us take an important step to accelerate the transition to smoke-free products in the future.” We believe that no smoke-free product can meet the preferences of all adult smokers. Therefore, a diverse, scientific product portfolio is a key factor in supporting smokers in their decision to quit.”
- PMI acquired Swedish Match in 2022, which replaces tobacco consumption in Sweden with snus and ZYN. Today, Sweden has the lowest smoking rate in Europe, down from about 35 percent in 1980 to less than 6 percent now. In addition, public health data show that the decline in smoking rates in Sweden is associated with a decline in smoking-related diseases and deaths, which are among the lowest in the rest of the EU. We are delighted to bring their expertise to Romania.”
