Large-Scale Seizure in Lincolnshire
The safety alert follows a major enforcement operation in Boston, Lincolnshire, where police seized over 90,000 illegal cigarettes and 300 high-capacity vapes from seven retail stores.
Authorities described the seized devices as “super vapes” containing 30 milliliters of liquid—15 times the legal limit—and nicotine levels equivalent to 375 regular cigarettes.
Health Officials Warn of “Super Vape” Risks
Andy Wright, an officer from Lincolnshire Trading Standards, said the products pose significant health hazards due to their excessive nicotine content and poor labeling.
- “The popularity of single-use vapes has not subsided, but residents need to be fully aware of the health hazards posed by these high-capacity ‘super vapes,’” Wright said.
He added that the bright and attractive packaging often appeals to young people, increasing the risk of underage use.
Ongoing Crackdown on Illegal Vaping Products
Trading Standards confirmed that enforcement teams will continue working with police to remove illegal vaping products from the market and prosecute those selling them.
Officials emphasized that many of these products fail to meet safety and labeling standards, making them dangerous to consumers.
About the European Safety Gate System
The European Safety Gate is the EU’s rapid alert system for hazardous non-food products. It allows EU and EEA Member States, along with the European Commission, to quickly share information about unsafe products that pose serious risks to health or safety.
Once identified, such products can be withdrawn from the market or subject to official safety warnings.
