The beauty of disposable vapes is that they are easy to use. You don’t have to worry about refills or maintenance. After use, simply open a new cartridge.
Anyway, this is just a theory. But what happens if something goes wrong?
If your vape is faulty, we’re here to help! Our guide will show you how to fix disposable vapes that don’t hit the spot – no matter what the underlying problem is.
Why isn’t your new disposable vape working? (Understanding vape components first)
Whether it’s a vape or an electronic cigarette, there are many reasons why a disposable vape won’t work properly. It helps to identify the problem and understand the different parts and how they interact.
1. Batteries
The battery provides power to the vape. Therefore, if the battery doesn’t work, nothing else will work.
Assuming there is no problem, the battery will heat up…
2. Coils
These coils are located in a container surrounded by vape liquid. The coils are lined with a wicking layer, an absorbent material designed to ensure that the vape liquid is absorbed and reaches the coils.
When the battery is activated, the coils get hot and the e-liquid turns into vapor. The vapor then enters through the outlet point of the tank.
3. The mouthpiece
This is where the vapor leaves the device and enters your mouth.
However, it is more than just a hole. The mouthpiece also acts as an on/off switch that activates the coil when you smoke the vape.
Potential Problems – How to Fix Disposable Vapes That Don’t Smoke?

As you can see, the design of a vape is very simple. However, it requires all three elements (battery, coil, and mouthpiece) to work properly. Any problem can cause the vape to not work properly.
So what kind of problems might occur? How to solve the problem?
1. Unopened disposable vapes
Most disposable vapes are easy to use. They can be activated by simply inhaling. But not all vapes do this. Sometimes, you may need to turn them on.
Check if there is an activation button in the manual, and if so, solve the problem.
2. Dead batteries
You can’t smoke a vape without electricity! The coils can’t heat up, so the vape oil can’t turn into vapor.
Most rechargeable vapes have a blinking display light to indicate that the battery is working. So if you don’t see a display light, it’s likely that the battery is dead.
But be careful. Many disposable vapes don’t have lights at all. So don’t lose your device until you’ve investigated other potential problems.
If you have a disposable vape but the battery is dead, unfortunately, you’ll have to give up. You need to invest in a new machine.
If you have a rechargeable vape, plugging it in and letting it charge should solve the problem. However, check to see if the light comes on when you plug it in. If it doesn’t, the vape may be broken.
3. No power
You may think this is impossible. Your disposable vape should be able to smoke 600 puffs, but you’re not even smoking that much!
But these draws are just estimates. The exact amount you extract from your device depends on how long and how deeply you vape.
Unfortunately, most disposable vapes don’t have an easy liquid level to check. However, if you felt harsh or burnt during a previous smoke, the culprit is likely a depleted liquid level. In the case of disposable vapes, this means it’s reached the end of its useful life.
4. Blocked mouthpiece
When you smoke, the light will come on until it stops working and your vape tastes perfectly fine.
It sounds like your battery is working, along with the e-liquid. The problem could be that something is preventing the smoke from coming out of the mouthpiece.
This can happen if the hole in the mouthpiece is blocked.
Some vapes come with removable mouthpieces that make it easier to check. Simply remove the mouthpiece and place it under a light to see if it is clogged.
However, most disposable vapes have fixed mouthpieces.
If you think the mouthpiece might be clogged, you can solve the problem with a toothpick, large needle, or cotton swab. Simply push it gently into the mouthpiece hole to remove any lint or debris.
5. Clogged airflow holes
Some disposable vapes have extra holes to help air pass through the device. Just like the holes in the mouthpiece, these holes can become clogged. It’s especially possible to keep your vape in a pocket with a fluffy lining.
The method here is the same as removing a clogged mouthpiece. Simply poke out any debris with a large pin, toothpick, or cotton swab.
If your vape is activated by inhaling, then you can also consider another solution. Cover the air inlet with your hand one at a time and inhale deeply. The extra pressure is sometimes enough to dislodge any particles that have never covered the hole.
6. Air bubbles in vape oil
Sometimes, air bubbles are created between the vape oil and the coil. This means that the vape oil will not heat up or produce vapor.
This is a very common problem, but luckily, it’s also easy to deal with. Shake the vape or gently tap it twice. This action should break the air bubbles and allow the liquid to reach the coils again.
7. Drying and Sweating
Another issue that prevents vape oil from reaching the coils is drying. This can happen if you use vapes regularly, especially if you vape a lot.
One of the symptoms is that the smoke from the vape is weak. If the vape cartridges are very dry, you may also experience the same unpleasant burning flavor as when the e-liquid is completely used up.
The only solution is time. Allow the vape to rest and allow the e-liquid to be absorbed by the cartridge again. This usually takes about ten minutes. During this time, gently shaking the vape will also encourage the e-liquid to seep into the core and absorb.
8. Overheating
Most disposable vapes have some sort of overheating prevention device built into a key component of the machine. This device is great considering the high amount of heat a typical vape generates. It works by preventing objects from (in fact) exploding in front of you.
If you leave your vape in a hot car or feel it getting hot, but then have a hard time smoking it, then the vape may have overheated. The safety system may shut it down before it gets worse.
A good way to deal with this problem is to remove it from the heat source and cool it down. Then, check to see if it is now smokable. In some cases, it may just need to cool down a bit. In other prerequisites, the vape may be burned and difficult to smoke.
9. Freezing e-liquid
Another scenario is to put the e-liquid or vape oil into an extremely cold environment. While it’s unlikely that the liquid will freeze completely, the extremely low temperature may cause condensation and may also make it difficult to flow.
Heating your vape, giving it a quick (but gentle) shake, and taking a couple of extra puffs can help it get back to work. If you live in a cold climate, this can teach you a good lesson: vapes and cold don’t mix!
What do you do when your disposable vape doesn’t smoke?

Disposable vapes are designed to be cheap, disposable items. This means that when something goes wrong, sometimes the only option is to throw it away and use it normally.
It also means you shouldn’t do anything about it…
1. Don’t try to charge the battery
Whatever you do, don’t try to charge a disposable vape.
Attempting to do so is not easy, as there is no place to plug in the cables. But don’t try to use creativity. DIY charging solutions to solve this problem! Trying to charge a non-rechargeable battery can cause a fire or even an explosion.
Batteries also contain some unpleasant chemicals, so it’s best not to touch them.
When you’re done with your vape, dispose of it responsibly. It should be taken to a battery and appliance recycling service.
2. Don’t try to disassemble the vape
We have different opinions about disassembling disposable vapes. If you are determined to do so, you can find guides online. But you’ll likely spend a lot of time playing with something you’ll never use again.
If you like to learn about the inner workings of vapes pod devices are a better choice. They combine the convenience and portability of disposable vapes with the ability to replace faulty parts. pods can be re-charged and batteries can be re-charged.
Alternatively, a vape module or box module may be the answer. This requires more maintenance and expertise, and you usually have to buy the batteries separately.
But they will provide you with more options to customize the feel of your vape. If a part stops working, it’s usually easy to find a replacement.
When all else fails
Just because a product is advertised as disposable doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect it to work!
If your disposable vape is faulty and you can’t fix it, contact the retailer or manufacturer. They should give you a refund or a replacement.
However, not all retailers have the same level of customer service. If you don’t get a positive response, consider whether it’s worth continuing to emphasize this. Your time is also valuable, and you may prefer to leave a scathing review and choose another place in the future.
How to Repair a Disposable Vape – Bottom Line?
Disposable vapes are designed to be simple, which means that it’s usually one of several factors that lead to a malfunction. It could be a dead battery, a dead battery, air bubbles in the e-liquid, dry smoking, or a clogged mouthpiece or air hole.
A dead battery or running out of e-liquid means that the vape is no longer working. But there are some simple solutions to other problems. A ten-minute break or a gentle tap or shake is usually enough to get the vape back to normal.
If the problem is with the mouthpiece or air hole, a needle or toothpick will solve most blockages.
Hopefully, our guide will help you find the culprit – and most importantly, fix it!
