According to a recent report by Tobaccoreporter, Danish authorities conducted a round of “controlled access” inspections in Copenhagen, and 21 out of 22 convenience stores were found to be illegally selling products such as tobacco, nicotine and vapes. These products are cleverly hidden behind wall panels, in packages, behind shelves and inside used chocolate boxes.

The Danish Health Ministry said the products were banned because they did not comply with Danish sales laws or did not pay the relevant taxes.

Health Minister Sophie Løhde said,

  • “It is completely unacceptable that so many convenience stores are illegally selling illegal nicotine products. They are endangering the health of children and young people. These illegally sold vapes taste like candy, but actually contain high levels of nicotine and may even contain drug ingredients, and must be stopped immediately.”

According to the Ministry of Health. 18 offending shops have been fined by at least one department, and two have been banned from selling food.
