A political party in Bulgaria is pushing for a legislative change aimed at a total ban on vapes, regardless of whether they contain nicotine. The bill also plans to amend the Criminal Code to regulate crimes related to vaping ban. The bill could go into effect as soon as next week.
Bulgaria’s GERB political party is pushing for a total ban on vapes, including all vape brands, regardless of whether they contain cigarette tar or not.
At a press conference in parliament, Kostadin Angelov, chairman of the Bulgarian Health Commission, said the plan had been announced.
The bill completely bans the sale of vapes in Bulgaria, including import, trade, and distribution through physical and online channels. In addition, amendments will be made to the Criminal Code to regulate the composition of offenses related to the ban on vapes and energy drinks.
GERB Boyko Borisov stressed that all political parties had signed the law. If the committee completes its work in time, vapes will be banned next week.
Previously, the topic of banning vapes has aroused public concern. The debate over vapes is intensifying in Bulgaria after a minor died after inhaling a vape containing a dangerous substance and falling from a balcony.
