British American Tobacco (BAT) “Nicotine vape to be launched in Korea in November” Nomad “Due to the lack of clear legal regulations on the generation of nicotine vapes, South Korea is the only market where the product is sold.
British American Tobacco (BAT) is set to release a Nikko vape in Nov, according to a report by N.WS on Sep 23.
On the 23rd, the Korean subsidiary of British American Tobacco revealed that the name of the “Nomad” synthetic nicotine vape has applied for trademark rights and plans to be officially launched in November.
Back in May, BAT hinted that this new product was coming. Now, South Korea will be the only country in the world to sell these nicotine-producing vapes.
Industry insiders believe that BAT is interested in the lack of clear legal regulations on the generation of nicotine vapes in South Korea. Under the current tobacco law in Korea, only products that can be used as raw materials are approved. As a result, nicotine-producing vapes are not considered traditional cigarettes and can be sold online to minors without restrictions.
In addition, these generated nicotine vapes will not be included in the scope of tax collection, so the price may be lower than ordinary cigarettes and traditional vapes.
According to reports, there has been no progress in discussions on the revision of relevant laws in South Korea. During the 21st Congress, there were four bills aimed at expanding the definition of cigarettes, proposing bills to include nicotine-producing products, but they were scrapped as the parliamentary term ended. Currently, five related bills have been introduced in the 22nd Congress.
