Australian pharmacies battle tobacco giants for vape market share

The Asian Australian pharmacy chain and tobacco giant Chemist Warehouse are vying for market share in e-cigarettes due to new laws and regulations. New laws and regulations control the sale of e-cigarettes in pharmacies and prohibit single-use vapes. Liber Pharmaceuticals, which has Nicovapee Q’s merchandise and a strong shareholder background, is poised to become a market leader, while controversy over e-cigarette tax and prescription management processes has intensified in the industry.

According to ABC News on December 11, Australian drugstore chain Chemist Warehouse cigarette giant is competing for market share in e-cigarettes.

E-cigarette taxation and prescription management at the center of industry controversy

The competition stems from new laws and regulations issued by the federal government. The new law has shut down many small e-cigarette outlets across the country, limiting the sale of all e-cigarette brands to pharmacies, whether they contain tobacco tar or not. At the same time, the use of disposable e-cigarettes is prohibited and the taste is limited. However, while pharmacies have the upper hand on policy, many pharmacists are still reluctant to sell such products themselves or entirely. According to Senate estimates, in the first month of the new laws and regulations, only 3,500 e-cigarettes were sold without a prescription.

Liber Pharmaceuticals is poised to become a market leader with Nicovape Q products and a strong shareholder background that includes Chemist Warehouse and The Strategic Counsel, among others. A strong network of contacts gives the company access to the country’s largest drugstore chains and suppliers.

Nicovape Q product

Liber’s website says its Nicovape Q product is the only nicotine e-cigarette product supplied by pharmaceutical wholesalers Symbion, Sigma, and API, which gives the company access to 5,500 pharmacies in Australia.

In Australia, Philip Morris International has been looking at small, well-known pharmacies and has launched them. VEEV brand electronic cigarette. Last year it was reported that the company used e-cigarettes 80% in exchange for supply deals and profit margins.

Richard Lee, the company’s founder, said the company was committed to helping us quit smoking, not relying on them to use Nicovape normally, and that it did not have the support of cigarette giants.

Among the issues facing e-cigarette manufacturers: small tobacco companies and illegal e-cigarette businesses are unwilling to transition, and pharmacists are reluctant to sell e-cigarettes without a prescription. There are also two key points of contention in the industry, one is whether e-cigarettes should be taxed to generate government revenue, and the other is whether the procedure for prescribing e-cigarettes should be strictly required.

According to economist Saul Eslake, a tax on e-cigarettes is said to provide the revenue governments need to reduce fiscal pressure. But he also noted that high taxes could promote illegal sales.
