A U.S. state to ban disposable vapes, nicotine exceeds the standard

Lawmakers in the US state of Arkansas have proposed a ban on single-use vapes after tests found the products contain excessive levels of lead and ethanol, mislabeled nicotine, and twice as much as advertised, and some even have video game displays that pose a potential risk to children.

According to KATV on February 26, U.S. Rep. Matt Duffield and Sen. Missy Irvin of Arkansas are proposing a bill that would ban single-use vapes.

Duffield and Owen will unveil the draft bill on Thursday and discuss the results of tests conducted on single-use vapes.

The bill was introduced after multiple witnesses reported inconsistencies with these single-use vapes, and small vape shops in Arkansas that purchased and tested several top brands of vapes showed that all vapes contained lead and ethanol, as well as mislabeled nicotine levels that were twice as high.

A spokesman pointed out that the open vaping industry has been under attack for years, while these products can be freely sold in gas stations and convenience stores without regulation. The school investigation found that 100% of the confiscated vapes were disposable vapes. While not explicitly marketed to children, the new vapes even include displays bundled with video games.
